The Organisation
Our client is a renowned leader in the global transportation sector with a dynamic and growing presence in Australia. They specialise in the operational technology and management of extensive urban and interurban transport networks, offering innovative solutions and consulting services to enhance existing systems.
Part of a consortium, and working in partnership with NSW Government, they have recently been awarded a city-shaping, mega metro rail project to be delivered under a Public Private Partnership model.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Director, this position will be pivotal in overseeing the commercial and contract management aspects of the O&M Contractor in a Public Private Partnership. The role involves ensuring compliance with governance frameworks, managing contractual obligations, and leading cost management processes to support successful project delivery.
Main Responsibilities
Support the Project Leadership Team in ensuring adherence to Commercial, Divisional, and Group governance.
Assist the APAC Leadership Team in developing and implementing policies, processes, and systems for project and divisional commercial activities.
Manage project operations in alignment with established governance frameworks and financial plans.
Establish and execute a framework for managing project contracts.
Provide guidance on commercial issues, contract negotiations, risk management, and cost comparisons at project level.
Ensure compliance with commercial terms in contracts with clients and major subcontractors.
Develop, maintain, and negotiate positions on contract changes and claims, including discussions with clients.
Negotiate contract terms and conditions with clients and subcontractors as required.
Support effective risk assessment and project reporting.
Lead assessments of contract changes and claims.
Oversee subcontract payments, changes, claims, and final accounts according to subcontract terms.
Manage procedures for contract extensions effectively.
Requirements
7+ years’ experience in managing commercial and contractual aspects, ideally within large-scale infrastructure, rail or relevant projects.
Familiarity with Public Private Partnerships would be a plus.
Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related fields.
Advanced proficiency in project contract administration, costing, and project management.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, adept at building and maintaining productive relationships internally and externally.
Expertise in commercial and contract management, including claims handling.
